AMD
(199509..12)
First paying advertiser.
They stopped advertising when the 486 began loosing from Intel's generation of Pentiums.
Now they are on top again of course in the low price range market.
Booksnow seems to have gone. Well, it didn't work for me...
I got a check for about $3 after about a year of such.
Amazon worked better at about $200 per year in some years ago,
but not it's sometimes only a couple of dollars per quarter.
Not great of course, but I have to link the ISBN numbers to something.
I doubt that Barnes and Nobles would do much better.
When I emailed them (even before the Booksnow period)
they wanted exclusivity and I don't like that unless income guarantees are given...
This german company started as a sponsor but is now a regular advertiser.
Chipdir Brokering
(199607..now)
199607?..
Because people kept asking me to help them find obsolete chips,
I emailed with a lot of chip brokers that I came across and found
a good broker to help me. Since then I added some of my own ad's
to the Chipdir because the modest commission I was getting on the
deals was gradually turning into a serious income source to
maintain the Chipdir on. My aim however is to be a WWW publisher
so my own ad's are just an alternative way of making money via ad's
(and to help people find their chips). I'm open to all kinds if
advertising models as long as it doesn't cost me much time, makes
enough money and enables me to keep providing the information I'd
like to see as a visitor.

Very specialized manufacturer, so they had a couple of ads on specialized pages.
Operation was sized down, as I was later told.
They never paid. Wasn't much anyway, so why bother... ;-)

This company is an interbroker service provider. The ad is on all the even numbered chip pages.
When using the search form in the ad you'll get the real search results from their
database but without the link to the company actually offering the parts.
This added service will cost you $45 per month.

Around 200006 they bought CAPSXpert from IHS and made their database fully WWW based.
Their ad is on top of most of the pages and so they pay a lot.
The first tests proved however that their campaign is very succesful.
